A Study of Grounded theory in the Strategic Use of Music in the Daily Lives of Social Rehabilitation Center Users" Experiences with Music Therapy

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the process of strategic use of music in daily lives of the members of social rehabilitation center who experienced music therapy. The subjects of this study were selected by purposeful sampling. Eight participants who experienced music therapy in H Social Rehabilitation Center for over six month had in-depth interview with the researcher. The collected data from interview were analyzed using open coding, axial coding, and selective coding by using grounded theory methods. Data were categorized into 47 concepts, 21 sub-categories, and 11 upper-categories. The result of analyzing the categories according to paradigm model showed causal conditions, contextual conditions, central phenomena, intervening conditions, action/interaction strategies, and consequences. The entire process was divided into four phases : "awareness of needs", "acquisition of experience", "self-directing", and "enjoyment". The core category in the process of the strategic use of music in the daily lives of the social rehabilitation center"s users was revealed as being, "enjoy the self-developmental musical life based on the experience of music therapy".
